NFTV: Odisha : Jharsuguda : Amjad Badshah: On the collapsing of ash pond of Vedanta Ltd.,at Katikela village of Jharsuguda,the closure of five of the power units will be done by today said Jharsuguda Collector and District Magistrate Bibhuti Bhushan Pattanaik. Speaking to NFTV, Collector said the necessary direction of closure from the State Pollution Control Board(SPCB) has been received by his office. As the direction of closure letter reached on Thursday,so today it will be done forthwith. The team consisting of Magistrate,police personnel and officials of regional office of SPCB of Jharsuguda will be doing the closure procedures. Earlier yesterday the Regional Officer of SPCB, Jharsuguda Niranjan Mallik told NFTV that two separates letters directing for closure of two units of 600 MW each from total of four units of IPP(Integrated Power Plant) and three units of 135 MW each from the total of nine units of CPP(Captive Power Plant) has been received from SPCB,Bhubaneswar.RO Mallik said the closure direction has been made after his detailed inspection report of site of breached ash pond on 1st of this month coupled with personal hearing on 6th of this month at SPCB Bhubaneswar office being attended by Vedanta officials.
